The deal

Terms

Short version: we draw one design per neighborhood, you order it, and it gets made for you and shipped. These terms describe how that works when something goes right and when it does not.

Who you are buying from

Hyperlocal is a small operation run from Miami, Florida. Questions, problems and requests all go to evan@wearhyperlocal.com, and a person reads them.

What you are buying

An embroidered or printed cap carrying one neighborhood's design. Every hat is made after you order it. Nothing is held in stock, which is why a neighborhood can have a design of its own, and why it is not next-day delivery. One size, adjustable snapback.

Product photographs are vendor renders of the actual print file on the actual blank. Thread and print colours can sit a shade off a screen, and screens disagree with each other.

Prices, tax and payment

Prices are in US dollars and shown on each neighborhood's page. Sales tax is calculated from your address at checkout and added on top, which is ordinary US practice. Payment is taken on Stripe's hosted checkout; card details never reach our servers. Your order is accepted when Stripe confirms the payment, and we may decline or refund an order before it is made.

Shipping

Within the United States only, at $4.49 for the first hat and $2.00 for each one after it — what our maker charges us, not marked up. It ships in 2–4 days, and production plus transit usually runs about a week. That is what it usually takes, not a guaranteed date, and we do not control the carrier.

Returns

If a hat arrives damaged, misprinted or is not what you ordered, reply to your order confirmation within 30 days with a photo and it gets replaced or refunded. You do not need to send the bad one back.

Because each hat is made for one specific order, we cannot take returns for a change of mind. If your address was wrong and the package comes back, we will re-send it once you give us the right one; a second shipping charge applies.

Discount codes

A code works only while it is active and only on the terms it was issued under, which may include an expiry date, a limit on redemptions, or one use per customer. Codes have no cash value, cannot be applied after an order is placed, and we can end one at any time. If a code stops working, nothing you already bought is affected.

The referral offer

Send your link to people you actually know. When five friends order through it, you get a hat free. It counts completed orders only, and an order that is later refunded stops counting. Buying through your own link does not count.

The affiliate programme

Approved affiliates earn ten percent of merchandise value for thirty days after someone clicks their link, and we take one affiliate per neighborhood. Commission is earned when an order is paid, and is reversed in proportion if that order is later refunded. We can decline or end an affiliate arrangement, and unearned commission is not owed. Do not represent yourself as Hyperlocal, do not bid on the brand name in paid search, and do not post the link anywhere the venue's own rules forbid.

The designs

The artwork on these hats is ours. Buying one buys you the hat, not the design: do not reproduce, resell or print the artwork.

Neighborhood names and the places they refer to belong to everybody. We claim no rights in them, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any neighborhood, municipality, association or business whose name appears on this site.

Voting and requests

Voting on a design and requesting a neighborhood are both free, neither is a preorder, and nothing is charged. A design winning a vote or a neighborhood crossing its request threshold does not oblige us to make it, and we may never make it.

Using the site

Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, do not try to break the checkout, and do not use the request or vote forms to send abuse. We can refuse service.

What we do not promise

The site is provided as it is. We do not guarantee it will be available without interruption or free of errors. Where the law allows us to limit it, our liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. Nothing here takes away a right you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

Changes and law

We can change these terms; the version on this page when you order is the one that applies to that order. They are governed by the law of the State of Florida.
