MLK Boulevard is what locals call NW 62nd Street, and Liberty Square opened in 1937 as the first public housing for Black residents in the South. The Historic Hampton House on 27th Avenue is where Muhammad Ali celebrated winning the title in 1964, where MLK stayed, and where Enid Pinkney once stood in front of bulldozers to save it. Barry Jenkins grew up here and made 'Moonlight' about it.
