Everyone still calls it Cutler Ridge. The name on the charter is younger than most of the houses: residents voted to incorporate in 2005, making this the newest town in Miami-Dade, and the push came out of the long recovery from Hurricane Andrew, whose worst winds crossed right over the ridge in 1992. Long before that the Tequesta were here, and the trail the first Cutler settlers cut north to Coconut Grove is the road that still carries the name.
